Church of the Madonna di Pompignano

Country road toward Torre Mozza

The painted apse, simple stone façade and surrounding olive landscape

This rural church stands close to the ancient Via Sallentina amid olive plots and dry-stone walls. Rebuilt in the sixteenth century and restored in 1701, it preserves Marian frescoes while medieval burials and Roman finds reveal the longer-lived settlement of Pompignano.
